PHILADELPHIA ZOO LAUNCHES $2 SHUTTLE SERVICE AS PART OF CHILDREN’S ZOO MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND KICK-OFF!

Beginning this coming Memorial Day Weekend, the Philadelphia Zoo makes it easy for families to enjoy the upcoming holiday. Not only can visitors buy and print their tickets at home from the Zoo's website, but now, running seven-days-a-week June 1st through August 31st, The Philadelphia Zoo proudly announces its special $2 trolley service between the Independence Visitors Center, 30th Street Station and the Zoo. The $2 summer-long shuttle service provided by American Trolley Tour Company will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the Independence Visitor Center, 6th and Market Streets, pick-up at 30th Street Station at 20-minutes after the hour every hour and arrive at the Philadelphia Zoo every hour on the half-hour. Shuttles will return to the Independence Visitor Center every hour on the hour with the last pick-up from the Philadelphia Zoo at 5:30 p.m. (a complete schedule of location departure times is below).  Beginning September 6th, the new Zoo Shuttle will run weekends only (Saturdays and Sundays) through October 26th. The shuttle is free for children under 2.

On Saturday and Sunday, May 24th and 25th, guests of all ages can visit the Philadelphia Zoo and celebrate summer with the seasonal kick-off to the Zoo’s Children’s Zoo.  Visitors can see some of the superstar Zoo chickens perform the “Chicken Challenge” obstacle course (you’ll never think of chickens the same way again). Guests can also see some of the Zoo’s animal ambassadors (armadillos, macaws, birds of prey and chinchillas) during special keeper talks, pet, brush and feed goats and sheep., see the once-yearly sheep shearing demonstration on Saturday and much more!  Finally, the Children’s Zoo will feature many special activity tables where guests can color a farm-themed Monster Mural, learn about how the Zoo staff care for the animals in Children’s Zoo, learn why rats make wonderful pets and stop by to see “Backyard Bugs.” All activities are free with Zoo admission.
