FREE ZOO SHUTTLE CONNECTS GUESTS TO “SANTA’S ANIMAL SURPRISES,” “SANTA DAYS” AND MUCH MORE

PHILADELPHIA, PA – November 30, 2007 - The Philadelphia Zoo, located at 3400 West Girard Avenue, Philadelphia, is pleased to announce that it has extended its FREE trolley service between the Independence Visitors Center (IVC) and the Zoo through December 30th. The FREE shuttle service will take place seven-days-a-week to accommodate kids of all ages (especially those who need a break from holiday shopping) beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the IVC, with arrivals at the Philadelphia Zoo every hour on the half-hour. Shuttles will return to the IVC every hour on the hour with the last pick-up from the Philadelphia Zoo at 4:30 p.m. (a complete schedule of location departure times as well as run dates are listed below).

The FREE Zoo shuttle will run throughout the month of December except the following dates which coincide with the scheduled days the Philadelphia Zoo will be closed:

  • December 24th
  • December 25th
  • December 31st

The service extension of the Philadelphia Zoo’s FREE seven-day-a-week shuttle means that holiday shoppers, families and kids of all ages can enjoy the many wonderful happenings taking place at the Philadelphia Zoo this season.

Guests can join us for our free (with Zoo admission) holiday event, “Santa’s Animal Surprises ” on Saturday, December 1 and Sunday, December 2 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Stop by for a chance to catch Santa popping in to see what our animals have on their wish lists for the holidays. Santa will appear at various exhibits throughout the day to give our penguins, tiger cubs, polar bears and more, treats and toys. Participate in our canned food drive and receive a dollar off the price of admission.

Can’t get enough of Santa? Come to the Zoo for “Santa Days” December 8, 9, 15 and 16. Santa has found time in his busy schedule to drop by the Zoo and wish all of the good boys and girls (and animals, too) a happy holiday! Guests are invited to join us in the Zoo’s Treehouse to meet Santa, make special holiday crafts and enjoy festive games. 

Or, sign up for our Winter Zoo Camp, December 27 through 28, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Kids ages five to nine can learn about concepts such as how adaptations help an animal survive, how predators stalk their prey and what makes a species endangered. Register for one or two days by calling 215-243-5254. Fee is $45 per day; $80 for 2 days. Before and after-camp programs available for working parents!
