Partner Programs

The Philadelphia Zoo's college internship program partners with Delaware Valley College's Bachelor of Science in Zoo Science to offer education and animal care internships. Visit their website to learn more.

Zoo Internships:

College students, recent graduates and career changers are welcome to apply for the following Zoo internships.  For more information, call 215-243-5200 or email zoointerns@phillyzoo.org. 

Animal Care Internship
If you are a college student majoring in Biology, Zoology, Animal Science, Environmental Education or a related field or recent graduate in any of those fields and you are interested in a career working with animals, the Philadelphia Zoo can provide you with valuable hands-on experience.
 
Conservation and Science Internship
Assist with the day-to-day operation of a zoo-based conservation and research program including performing administrative duties associated with project management and developing public awareness materials. As available, may be assigned to implement a specific project.
 
Education Ambassador Internship
The Education Ambassador Internship is designed to give college students practical experience in education, conservation, and animal care and the opportunity to gain a broad background of the Zoo community and how it operates.
 
Public Programming Internship
The Public Programming Internship is designed to give college students practical experience in developing educational programming and events and the opportunity to gain a broad background of the Zoo community and how it operates.
 
Volunteer Administration Internship
Assist with all activities related to the recruitment, training, placement, coordination and retention of volunteers. Specific responsibilities may include identifying and cultivating recruitment resources, assisting to coordinate volunteers at special events and orienting new volunteers.
 
Guest Relations Internship
This survey of Guest Relations is an internship opportunity that will allow students to become familiar with all aspects of the Zoo atmosphere, including front line exposure in admissions, rides and attractions, hospitality, project management, operations and events.
 
Community and Government Affairs Intern
This intern will work directly with our Vice President of Community and Government Affairs. You will have the opportunity to interact with local, state and possibly national politicians promoting the interests of America’s First Zoo. Although this internship is unpaid, you may receive college credit.
 
Marketing & Public Relations Internship
Support the Zoo's public relations and marketing departments by assisting with a wide variety of responsibilities including press releases and events, promotional events, seasonal publications and more.
