Duties
This survey of Guest Relations is an internship opportunity that will allow students to become familiar with all aspects of the Zoo atmosphere, including front line exposure in admissions, rides and attractions, hospitality, project management, operations and events. You will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of the Zoo everyday while helping to provide an exceptional experience to our guests.
Requirements
This internship is open to students with at least a 2.5 GPA. Each applicant must possess excellent communications skills and exude a professional appearance and manner.
JOB FOCUS
During the internship, job focus may rotate based on necessity and evaluation of performance and interests.
- - Successful completion of Guest Relations Training Program
- - Maintain general knowledge of the Zoo and Philadelphia area, (operations, minimal animal knowledge—to be attained in training) and effectively communicate to guests
- - Support special events and programming
- - Manage hospitality volunteers and other employees within department programming
- - Assist in Zoo admission process, including assisting guests entrance and exit of the Zoo
- - Create welcoming environment for guests
- - Effectively represent and support marketing initiatives set forth by the Zoo
- - Serve as a liaison between the Guest Relations department and other departments in the Zoo
- - Promote and sell memberships to the Philadelphia Zoo
- - Direct guests throughout the Zoo including parking facilities
- - Monitor guests as riders on Zoo attractions and assure their safety
- - Other duties as assigned
Availability
This internship requires a minimum commitment of 24 hours a week including a commitment of 1 weekend day, and lasts approximately 10 weeks, from May through September.
