Climate change poses a threat to humans and to wildlife. Shifting temperatures, rising sea levels and increasing severe weather events are altering ecosystems around the world and threatening the future of the planet.
To help address these issues, the Philadelphia Zoo has set a bold course to become one of the country’s leading cultural institutions in sustainable operations and wildlife conservation. While the Zoo has a significant history of wildlife conservation work, we are now poised to link that work with an ambitious and far-reaching program that takes our current green practices to the next level.
“Footprints,” a Philadelphia Zoo initiative to address climate change, will provide opportunities for you to join us in taking action that will protect wildlife and the environment we share and, we hope, help you to better understand the role humans have played in creating what might be the single greatest environmental issue facing us today.
