Founded in 1981, the Snow Leopard Trust www.snowleopard.org is the oldest and largest organization focused solely on developing successful strategies for protecting the snow leopard (Panthera uncia) and its habitat. Since its inception, the Trust has worked on more than 100 projects with local populations throughout Central Asia. The Trust strives to implement creative and visible programs that make long-lasting conservation happen. All programs are founded on the understanding that we must involve local communities in project design and implementation in order to achieve long-term success. The Philadelphia Zoo supports the efforts of the Snow Leopard Trust by providing funds through its conservation and science program and by selling Snow Leopard Trust Enterprises merchandise at our zoo shops.
