The Zoo's male alligator snapping turtle came to Philadelphia only a year ago, but this wonderful animal is more than one hundred years old!  He was born in the wild in approximately 1900, during the presidency of William McKinley, 15 years before World War I.

Visitors to the Philadelphia Zoo, which is open year-round, can find this magnificent turtle inside at the Reptile and Amphibian House.
