Day 7

Our morning survey is a complete bust, the tide is later today but no godwits or knots to be seen.  We head back to the camp to find another pole broken on the cook tent and think that is pretty much the end of its usefulness.  On a brighter note, my tent seems to be holding up fairly well.  Today is another pretty strong wind day after a few days of fairly mild winds (for Patagonia that is).  Today is a day to head into Cerro Sombrero for more groceries and hopefully, showers!

We stop at the hostel in town to arrange for showers and run into the Mayor again.  He tells us that they have just built a hospitality type center near the ferry station for VIP’s to stay in when they visit.  It is not officially open but he says he will call and arrange for us to use one of the rooms.  The place is brand new and the water is piping hot and feels really good.  We decide to stay here the last night we are in Tierra del Fuego so that we can get an early start without having to take the time to break camp down in the morning.

We talk to the staff at the center and they are fine with that plan.
